Poem #2

Where I Come From by Elizabeth Brewster (page# 696-697)

This poem is the honest truth and that is why I fell in love with it. A person may move from place to place and always have a hint of where they're from originally. I know if I decided to up and move to New York or California I would have many things about me that would stick with me forever from the south. I love this poem because when the speaker begins to describe where she is from it sound a good bit like home for me. She describes people she has noticed where ever she is, maybe in a big city perhaps? How all those people are tattooed with the place they're from. This poem is not a waste of time to read; it draws you in and begins to force you to picture the people in the poem and where they are from. When she begins to describe where she is from you really feel and also picture what she’s talking about and the comforting difference from the first eleven lines. This one is a good read, it won’t let you down.

  1. I enjoyed reading this poem. Just like it states, people are made up of places. If you sit and think about it, we have beautiful places all over the world that we would love to visit but in reality someone actually lives there. Reading this poem makes your mind imagine the different places being described. Where do you come from?

  2. I agree, the roots of southern charm is something that will always be with you. It will not matter if you are in Alaska or Germany it is something the grows within you.
