This poem that I am going to share with you all is not a poem I found in the book, online or in a library. This is a poem that my Grandmother had written for me when I was little. It is not a published work but in my eyes it's a good poem:
A trinket for my tulip, my little lovely girl
Present her with a locket, a tiny string of pearls.
Shining in the sunlight, she will make such a fuss
This teenie little necklace my girl will love so much
Hollow as a wolf's cry, this locket so it seams
Yet she'll fill it with her memories, love and precious dreams
When all is lost and all is sad and gray skies circle near
and every wish and every dream falls from my tulip dear
She will open up her locket to what awaits inside
a little hope and faith my dear is always what you'll find.
This poem is so special to me, not only because it's written for me, but because it has helpful hidden advice. I loved it so much as a little girl only because I knew it was about me and it rhymed so well. When I got older and read it I noticed that the poem wasn’t about the locket given to me but it was about keeping my head up. It was about storing memories, dream, love, and all that good stuff away in my "locket" or "my heart". When times got rough I could never get too low down because I could always look back on memories and cherished things I have "stored away in my locket". Since this poem is not published there is no way you can look it up and read it so you will have to really on this copy as is. I feel this is a great poem for anyone (you don’t have to own a heart shaped locket on a pearl chain) it reminds you that all the good things in life should be kept close to your heart and safe. This poem is good to read when you’re feeling a little blue, it has always been a good pick-me-up for me, I hope it does the same for you.
My grandfather had a poem he made for me as a child as well. It was never wrote down but I still remember it to this day. It as well means alot to me. There is nothing else like having beautiful words put togther just for you.
ReplyDelete! My grandmother also wrote a poem for me that I have saved and framed on my desk ! It always reminds me of where I come from and to pass along those values to our next generation. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
